The Day the Earth Stood Still review

I thought the trailer for this film looked awesome and I had been looking forward to seeing it on the day of release. What a disappointment. The first thing that I noticed about the film is the awful and at times downright embarrassing dialogue which could have easily been written by a 9 year old. It all seemed so pointless; it was just a short storyline with over budget filler scenes in-between the parts that could have mattered if they were well directed. There was often times where you were left wondering what the hell is going on in the main plot line whilst you watch some pointless scene with people attempting to look like important government agents talking about a meteor coming to earth at 'three times ten to the power seven' miles an hour (they actually said that; twice in fact) and this made the already rubbish script even more tedious. I have not seen the original so I can't say if it compares; but my guess is that the original film was not given the remake it deserved. However Keanu Reeves played his character well: An emotionless alien. 2/10.
