Death Note Manga vol 1 review

Before I started watching the Death Note anime I thought it would be interesting to read the manga first which is available from Shonen Jump. The story is very interesting, and the concept of the 'Death Note' is an original one which kept me hooked from the start, revealing more (but not all) of it's secrets through to the end. I found it to be quite a deep piece of writing, with the main character being the sort of person who can get the most from the death note which creates more problems for him and often questions his morals. The artwork is excellent; as you would expect from a Shonen Jump title, and the presentation of the cover and book itself are of high quality. If you are just discovering manga this book is a great place to start, as it has also been made into an anime series, a live action movie and a novel. 9/10.
